When I decided to do the Weez Walk last year, 62 km seemed like a lot, but suffice to say I don't think I truly grasped what I was getting myself into! I'm proud to say that not only did I complete the Weez Walk in one go, but was able to raise over $60,000 for mental health education and suicide prevention for youth. Being the overachiever I am, and also a very miscalculating person, the walk turned into a 68 km walk due to some of the wrong turns that I had taken!

Jokes aside, both the mental and physical demands of walking around the entirety of the Hong Kong island is likely one of the most arduous activities I have ever ventured out to accomplish. The mental endurance that was needed to overcome the pain that was experienced when my body wanted to give up, is definitely something I won't forget. This was both an enlightening and terrible experience to go through. I can't imagine what it would be like to suffer through and to be tormented with such despair and pain due to mental health issues, on a daily basis.

My hope is that this year, I can continue to raise awareness, normalize the conversation around mental health, and to promote amazing organizations like KELY that help to address youth mental health both at a preventative and intervention level. I am hoping to raise over $100,000 this year and to complete the Weez Walk again, but this time in sections (because I now know my limitations, and it's okay to set boundaries!).

I would love for you to join me either in person on the walk, or through a donation to KELY, an incredibly deserving organization that does phenomenal work.
